1976 Gibson L-6S Custom

The L-6S was shipped from 1973 until at least 1979 (and maybe, in small numbers, into the early 1980s). So this 1976 guitar is right in the middle of it's production, and is a typical example. The logo on the L-6S peghead is the standard seventies silk-screened gold 'Gibson', and in between 1975 and early 1977 the serial number was a decal too. This is an eight digit number with the first two numbers representing the year (00 = 1976). This numbering scheme was changed to the current system at some point in 1977.

Hardware is chrome throughout. Schaller M-6 tuning keys, Schaller tune-o-matic bridge, L-6S humbuckers. All three controls on this guitar were identical 300k CTS pots, dated the 46th week of 1975, part 70029. Despite being stock, there are some minor electrical differences when compared to the published L-6S parts list. The body and set neck are maple, giving it some real bite, as the sound clips below demonstrate.

The following clips were recorded through a driven early seventies Marshall Mercury 2060 amplifier (vol 10, tone 5). This small all-valve amp doesn't have a lot of bass, but the treble tones are fantastic. Turn it to full and it smokes!

Gibson SG Standard Historic Reissue Guitar with Maestro

With its ultra-thin, double-cutaway body, the SG was lighter than the Les Paul and allowed freer access to the upper register -- both features that rockers immediately appreciated. Gibson Les Paul SG Custom Historic Electric Guitar

Faithful to the original, it also features a sculpted mahogany body and Gibson's great slim-taper mahogany neck. Gibson Firebird Non-Reverse

The original Gibson Non-reverse Firebirds were produced from 1966 1969 and featured a headstock with banjo styled tuners on the bass side, and a body having the bass side horn slightly longer than the treble side horn. This body style was less radical than earlier Firebird models and provided greater access to the neck, which had a fast slim-taper '60s profile giving this instrument extraordinary playability. The Gibson Firebird Non-Reverse has a 24½ scale body made of solid mahogany and a 1-piece mahogany neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Other amenities include dot inlays, gold hardware, and an ABR-1 fixed bridge and stop tailpiece.This model has electronics similar in style to the Firebird VII (originally introduced in 1963), and is fitted with 3 Gibson mini-humbucking pickups

Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s Neck Heritage Cherry Sunburst Nickel Hardware

The feel and sound of the original '50s LP comes from a classic, hefty neck design with the smaller peghead, push-in-bushing green tuning keys, and nickel hardware.
