Created by Gibson's Custom, Art, & Historic Division, it's a "tonally carved" guitar with a solid mahogany carved back-and-sides unit, a carved, bookmatched, figured maple top, and a center block that is an integral part of the top and back. The shape is a scaled-down version of the ES-335, offering the player more comfort from this highly refined version of the classic. Gibson Thunderbird IV Bass
The Thunderbird IV debuted in 1963 with the original Firebird guitar series. The most highly respected of all Gibson basses, it was reissued in 1987 with original reverse body styling and TB Plus ceramic magnet humbuckers. Its thunderous output is enhanced by a 9-ply mahogany-and-walnut neck that extends through the body. Mahogany wings, an ebony fretboard, and black chrome hardware provide stunning dark looks. 34" scale, black top-hat knobs with inserts, Schaller tuners, and 3-way adjustable tailpiece.
