HardwareChrome plated. 2 volume and 2 tone controls, pickup selector switch. B-6 Bigsby vibrato.
FinishesStandard finishes: initially Cherry and later Sunburst (until 1967) Custom finishes: (from 1962), Ebony Grain, Emerald Green, and Amber - later Black, White, Blonde, Brown.

Early models in custom colours were sometimes given names to represent their colours; emerald green Starfires were called Emerald Star, and black ones, Blackfire

The Starfire III was a completely hollow bodied instrument - unlike the Starfire IV, V and VI which had the central block running along the length of the body (in the manner of the Gibson ES335TD). This model does have some similarities, in size, materials and construction to guitars made by other manufacturers, such as the Gibson ES-125TD and Epiphone Sorrento
